In the spirit of summer, I’ve been shopping ShopAtHome.com for some poolside essentials from top retailers such as Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor and Kohl’s. Here are some of my favs. Hello cash back!
Having spent summers in New England as a kid, I’ve always been a fan of deckside nautical style. All this look is missing is a dock, the ocean (or lake) and boats. I’m wearing a Vince Camuto dress from Lord & Taylor, a gold Just Cavalli bag (similar) from a consignment store, Juicy Couture sunglasses (similar), and of course “Naughty Nautical” nail polish by Essie.
Last night, Lord & Taylor hosted Project Runway Season 10 winner, Dmitry Sholokhov, at their Fifth Avenue store for the launch of his debut dress collection. The collection, comprised of eight cocktail and evening dresses is exclusive to Lord & Taylor and is made up of versatile dresses for the contemporary woman complete with flattering peplums and strategic darting. It is currently available at the New York location and on LordandTaylor.com. The dresses retail for $259-$329. This collection is perfect to wear to a June wedding or any other event that requires cocktail attire. Dmitry met with customers and signed sketches of his gorgeous collection. I love the sketch he signed for me and I’m looking forward to seeing where his talents take him next.
This week on Project Runway, Heidi sends the designers to meet Tim at an undisclosed location on 5th Avenue. When the remaining designers end up at the Lord & Taylor flagship store, they meet Bonnie Brooks, the President of L&T. The designers find out that they will be part of a special Project Runway 10th Season Collection at Lord & Taylor, and if they win this challenge, their dress will be reproduced and sold along with nine other dresses from past contestants.
The designers sketch, and then head back to the workroom where fabric is provided for them. In the workroom, Tim critiques the designers work. Elena gets upset that she is struggling with the criteria for this challenge. Gunnar offers comfort to Elena. Christopher shows Tim a technique that he is known for, and Tim thinks it could be a risk.
Race to the Runway – Melissa struggles to finish. Sonjia can barely fit her top on her model and breaks down. The girls are having a lot of problems, where the boys are much more relaxed. The designers all show their looks on the runway. The judges meet with and grill the top and bottom designers. After the Runway, the judges deliberate. A winner is named, and they will have their look reproduced and sold for Lord & Taylor
The competition is really heating up with every twist and turn on Project Runway this week. On tonight’s episode, the designers will meet Heidi on the runway and are told to meet Tim at the Southside Seaport. When they arrive they find Tim and several Lexus vehicles. They each get a key that will determine their car and their partner. Their car and it’s color must inspire a red-carpet look to be worn at the Emmy’s. They are told they have clients waiting for them.
Since there is always a twist, when the designers hop in their cars, they discover that their clients are former runway contestants. In the workroom, some of the teams have difficulty working together. Elena stomps around and bosses Buffi. Christopher begins to lose patience with Andrea. Gunnar and Kooan try to find a way to work together even though their methods are worlds apart. Tim Gunn offers his critiques and the clients add their input. Besides elimination, that’s always the scariest part. Gunnar and Kooan’s client is demanding. Alicia and Raul’s client hates their fabric. Andrea and Chris’s client worries that they have her showing too much skin. Ven and Fabio’s client is delighted by their design. With all this designer drama, I’m already on the edge of my seat wondering who will be in and who will be out.
Tune into Project Runway tonight at 9/8c on Lifetime!
